About

I’d been thinking about doing a blog for quite a long time.  My son-in-law has one for the church he pastors.  I love to write and this seemed to be an ideal place to do that.  I have a lot of material collected, preached and taught over the years that is just bursting to come out.  Besides, the Scriptures themselves are a source of never-ending treasure and wonder.

I’m happily married to a wonderful woman who puts up with me, and has for more than 50  years now.  We have five children, one having gone ahead to wait for us in heaven, and 9 grandchildren, two of them having gone ahead to meet our child in heaven and to wait for us and his or her folks, skipping all the travails of this life and being ushered directly into the arms of that One Who loves them better than we ever could.  One is on the way.

When I started this blog, I had no idea what to expect.  I hoped to meet some of you through this medium and to praise and glorify the God Who has given us so much, starting with His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.  Since then, I have been privileged to “meet” several of you through this blog and cannot tell you how much I have appreciated your comments and encouragement.  Thank you.  God’s richest blessings to you all.

About the title:  when I started this blog, I was a novice at this sort of thing.  The title I wanted had already been taken.  This title was “available.”  Without really understanding what I was doing, I clicked “enter” and so here we are:  nightlightblogdotcom.

About the header picture:  this photo was taken by a relative of one of the bloggers I follow.  She published it on her blog:  heavenly raindrops.  I fell in love with it, being from Colorado myself.  It shows Pikes Peak, with a couple of the formations of the Garden of the Gods near Colorado Springs, Colorado, in the foreground.  I lived within an hour’s drive of that mountain for about 40 years and have never been to the top.  That highway is world-famous and is the site of an annual race.  The odd thing is, a house we bought near Chicago was sold to us by people who were moving to Colorado Springs.  It is indeed a small world.

Thank you for stopping by and giving me a moment of your time.  I hope it is well-spent and that you find blessing and encouragement within these posts.

Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever.  Amen. Jude 24, 25.
